MISSION OF SMILE DELIVERY FOUNDATION

Smile Delivery Foundation is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that benefits children with life-threatening illnesses. We deliver "smiles" to children with life-threatening illnesses during their extended hospital stay, no more chemo party, birthday, and/or other special occasions. For us, a "smile" means: kind words of encouragement, love, hugs, gifts, cards, and most importantly, prayers.

We work strictly by referrals from Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital and other healthcare facilities which make it possible for us to personalize the gifts that we deliver to a child. Our referral form contains a gift option list where each child, or parent of the child, helps choose their gifts. This ensures that each child not only receives many special gifts, but items that are of interest to them. In addition to each child's gift choices; they receive a t-shirt, reusable tote bag, oral hygiene pack, ClubHouse magazine from "Focus on the Family", and the option to receive a BIBLE with their name engraved.

We realize that the parents of a sick child have needs, too, so we supply all of our SDF parents with a care package filled with shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, soap, body wash, a bath puff, toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, snacks, a Bible Promise Book or other encouraging book, an activity book, pen, “Thriving Family” magazine, roll of quarters, and many other items as they become available. Many of our parents would rather not leave the hospital to replenish their supply of personal hygiene items, so this helps them to stay at their child’s bed-side.

We truly understand what an act of love and kindness can do to lift a child's spirit, and our hope is to make a profound difference in their lives as well as the lives of their family.
